π From Ayutthaya Port to Hidden Paradise
βMyeik is the land of 800 islands in the southern Andaman Seaβ. For thousands of years traders from India, Sri Lanka, Persia, Arabs used Myeik as transit to cross peninsula without sailing around dangerous Malay Peninsula.
Conflict zone between Ayutthaya and Toungoo. After 1st Fall 1569 fell to Burma, King Naresuan recaptured. Became Ayutthaya’s most important western port in King Narai reign.
Closed to foreigners until 1997 β why it’s still pristine. Even UNESCO still lists Lampi as tentative.
