Koh Ma
Koh Ma – Koh Phangan
Sandbar IslandSnorkelingMae Haad Beach ★ Protected Marine Park
Koh Ma is Koh Phangan’s only island connected by a natural sandbar – A tiny tropical islet off Mae Haad Beach at the north-west tip of Koh Phangan.

Koh Ma is a small island connected to Phangan by a 200-meter long shallow sandbar. At low tide you can actually walk across from Mae Haad Beach to the island through crystal-clear water. At high tide the sandbar disappears and you need to swim or kayak.
What makes Koh Ma special: It’s Koh Phangan’s best-known snorkelling spot. The reef around it is a protected zone where fishing is banned, so there’s noticeably more coral and fish than anywhere else on the island. Entry is free.
Location
North-west tip of Koh Phangan, linked to Mae Haad Beach. Part of Ko Pha-Ngan District, Surat Thani.
Beautiful beach, day-trips 500 THB, stop 1-2 hours. Easy in summer months when water is calm.
